Service Description
This class meets 8 consecutive Thursdays 6-8:30pm January 8 - February 26th (Art Show March 1) Whether you are new to clay or ready to grow your skills, this class blends guided instruction for beginners with personalized weekly goals and creative freedom for returning and advanced students. Together we focus on learning, building community, and having fun while creating a cohesive body of work. Everyone also works toward our final 8 week student art show where friends, family, and neighbors are invited to join. Week 1 Introductions, studio tour, policies, goals, and intentions. Beginners learn hand building. Advanced students choose their focus and set their mantra for the 8 weeks. Clay 101 Path Week 1 Hand Building Week 2 Cylinder Bootcamp Week 3 Bowls Week 4 Trimming Weeks 5–6 Personal Projects Week 7 Glazing Week 8 Celebration and Showcase Beyond Path for Returning and Advanced Students After Week 1, returning students begin their chosen techniques or personal project. Each week includes demos for beginners and mid class check ins and critiques for advanced students. What Is Included White stoneware clay Tools and underglazes In house glazes All firings for class projects (2 firing limit per piece; additional firings can be purchased) Personal half shelf Sunday Open Studio 12 to 2 PM Drop in access to any other 8 week class that week for make ups or extra practice Drop ins are independent work time Important Studio Policies No Production Pottery This is an educational class, not a production space. Work intended for wholesale, resale, or batch production is not allowed. Fees or removal from the studio may occur. No Outside Clay, Glazes, or Materials We are a one clay body studio. Only the studio’s white stoneware may be used. Outside clay can cause serious kiln damage. Unauthorized clay may result in refusal of firing, damage fees, or removal without refund. Outside glazes require testing and approval. Unapproved glazes may result in refusal of firing or damage fees. Kiln Safety Unapproved materials can melt shelves, damage elements, or destroy an entire kiln load. Students are responsible for any damage caused. These policies protect the studio, the kilns, and everyone’s work. Pricing 650 dollars for everything included. This is the final round at our Grand Opening price before classes increase to 850 dollars. Additional shelf space and oversized piece fees apply. Cancellation Policy
Molly Sanyour Ceramics Studio – Class Policies 1. Registration & Payment Pre-registration is required. Full payment is due at registration. Cancellations made more than 72 hours before the first class are fully refundable. Within 72 hours of the first class, tuition is non-refundable. 2. Materials All class clay, glaze, and firing are included for your class projects. We provide midrange white clay bodies (with/without grog), underglazes, and studio dipping glazes. No outside clay, glazes, or decals allowed without written approval. Students receive ~2’x2’ of shelf space. Items left after the last class may be discarded. 3. Cancellations If we cancel a class or session, you’ll receive a full refund or class transfer option. Weather or emergency cancellations may result in a make-up session or open studio credit. 4. Studio Policies Be respectful to others, the space, and materials. Clean your area before leaving. Closed-toe shoes, tied-back hair, and no jewelry on hands/wrists required. Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in removal without refund. Damages caused by misuse may be the student’s responsibility. 5. Open Studio Access (8-weeks) Enrollment in 8-week classes includes Sunday Open Studio time from 12–2 PM and access to drop in during any other 8-week class time for make-ups or extra practice. Instruction is not provided outside your registered class time, and this should be treated as independent work time. Open Studio Access (4-weeks) Enrollment includes Sunday Open Studio time from 11–2 PM (for 4-weeks). 6. Attendance & Flexibility Students are welcome to drop in to any other class during their 8-week session to make up missed time or get extra practice. No need to email ahead, but please be mindful of space and instruction. (4-week sessions do not include drop-in hours, however, your weekly class is longer.) 7. Pick-Up Finished pieces will be ready at your final class (or the open studio Sunday following your last class). Any items left beyond 30 days may be discarded. 8. Photography & Media We may photograph or record studio sessions for marketing or educational use. If you’d prefer not to appear in photos, please notify us before class. 9. Liability By enrolling, you acknowledge the physical nature of ceramics and agree to follow all safety guidelines. You release Molly Sanyour Ceramics LLC and staff from liability for any injuries sustained during class.
