To the right is a glimpse into the raku process we will be doing in the two day workshops!
June 19-20 - 2 day Wheel Throwing/Raku Workshop
I am excited to offer this workshop for the first time!
Day one (11am-4pm) will be spent on the wheel! From demonstrations to hand-over-hand teaching, each student will be individually taught to achieve the techniques of their choice! Based on this being a two day workshop and not having time to fire everything in time to take it home, this workshop is mainly a day to fill your tool box with some new techniques, tips and tricks to take back with you to your studio!
However! At the end of day one, each student will keep at least one piece for the black ware raku pottery firing we will do on Day two!
On Day two, we will build and load your pots into the raku kiln, fire them off, go back into the studio for more wheel time, tips and tricks! Once the firing is complete, we will go back out at the end of the workshop to reveal your all black decorative pots to take home that day!
***Raku firings are not guaranteed! explosions can happen! But it is SO FUN either way! And hopefully, everyone will be able to leave the two day workshop with a small piece to take home as well as a tool box filled with all kinds of new techniques, tips and tricks!
This class will be limited to 8 people, which, due to the limited seats available, refunds will not be given after June 1, 2019.
This workshop will be held at Trinity Episcopal School located at 3850 Pittaway Drive, Richmond, Virginia 23235, as seen in the photos. If you are traveling from out of town, a car is recommended for navigating around Richmond and to and from the studio.
