Service Description
Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to build a solid foundation for more advanced pottery, Clay 101 is the perfect class to start your journey! In this comprehensive beginner course, you’ll dive into the art of hand-building and wheel throwing while learning the essential techniques needed to advance to more complex projects and higher-level memberships. By the end of this class, you’ll have the skills and confidence to continue your learning with us, as clay requires plenty of practice to master. Week-by-Week Overview: Week 1: Introduction, studio tour, hand-building techniques, and wheel throwing demo. Week 2: Learn to throw cylinders on the wheel. Week 3: Throwing bowls and experimenting with form. Week 4: Trimming bowls and refining techniques. Week 5: Reflect on techniques, choose your final project, and begin creating. Week 6: Create and complete work for firing. Week 7: Glaze your pieces with vibrant colors and designs. Week 8: End-of-Class Celebration and Reflection. What’s Included: Premium Experience: Access to a brand-new, state-of-the-art studio with top-quality equipment, including electric kilns, wheels, slab rollers, and extruders. Small Class Sizes: Personalized instruction with a max of 12 students ensures you receive plenty of attention as the instructor hops around to assist everyone. Inclusive Benefits: 0.5 shelf space for your work, clay for the class projects, glazes, and tools. Additional clay can be purchased through the studio at adjusted pricing to include glazes and firing costs. Cancellation Policy
Molly Sanyour Ceramics Studio 8-Week Class Policies 1. Registration and Payment Pre-registration Required: Register online or in person before the class starts. Spots are first-come, first-served. Payment: The $850 fee is split into two payments: a $425 non-refundable deposit at registration and $425 automatically charged midway through the course. Refunds: No refunds will be issued within 24 hours of the first class. 2. Class Expectations Attendance: The first class is mandatory and foundational—please do not book if you cannot attend. Arrival: Arrive 15 minutes early to check in and prepare. Materials: Clay 101: Unlimited clay included to encourage experimentation. Continuing Clay: One bag of clay included, with additional clay available for purchase. We provide midrange white clay bodies (with/without grog and speckled) and a variety of underglazes and dipping glazes. Firing fees are included in the class cost. Shelf Space: Each student gets approximately 2'x2' within their class’s shelving unit for work-in-progress. Items left after the last class will be removed. 3. Cancellations By Participant: Refunds are only issued for cancellations made more than 24 hours before the first class, and only for the second payment. By Studio: If the studio cancels, participants receive a full refund or the option to transfer. 4. Studio Policies Respect: Clean your workspace, follow guidance, and handle materials responsibly. Health and Safety: Closed-toe shoes, tied-back hair, and removal of jewelry are required. Behavior: Disruptive behavior may result in removal without a refund. 5. Student Membership Includes 12 hours of open studio time for make-up classes or extra practice. Open Studio Use: Reserve online. Scheduled alongside other 8-week classes, where students work independently alongside an instructor-led class. 6. Perks and Next Steps Discounts: Students receive discounted event tickets during their session. Studio Opportunities: At the end of the course, students can apply for Studio Lead or Assistant positions to deepen their involvement. 7. Project Pickup Projects are completed and picked up during the 8th class, which includes a celebration, critique, clean-out, and next steps for continuing your ceramics journey. 8. Photography and Recordings By participating in our classes, you consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded during your time in the studio. These materials may be used for marketing, education, social media, and promotional purposes.
